Lake Skale ( Škalsko jezero ) is oldest (about 130 years) and smallest one of three lakes near coal-mine city Velenje. They are all man-made, as a result of immersion of ground on abandoned coal-mine shafts and gallerys.

Velenje is located 25 km nord of Celje and 90 km east from capital city Ljubljana. Lake is few steps away from the town, is 650 m long and 400m wide and it's biggest depth is 18,5 m. From this lake some 20+ kg carps have been caught in the past and many between 10 kg and 20 kg. This lake is also home for many and big Wels Catfish, big Grass Carp - Amur as well as Silver Carp - Tolstolobik.
